Banka Island

Banka (or Bangka) is an island province that lies just east of Sumatra separated by the Banka Strait. Banka island offers tourists excellent seafood, watersports, and excellent open water diving oppportunities. Banka crafts are made of Bahar root (a kind of seaweed), and craftsmen make it into various kinds of souvenirs such as rings, bracelets, cigarette pipes, etc. Visitors will also find unique handicrafts made of tin or pewter.
